Nordic tree of life
This famous symbol represents the tree connecting in the cosmos the nine realms of the Nordic universe. It grows from the Well of Urd and symbolizes the creation of life emerging from water. This is why Yggdrasil is also known as the Tree of Life. It is important because the Norse gods ate its fruit to keep them young. Yggdrasil plays an important role in preserving the entire Nordic universe for its reconstruction after Ragnarök, the prophesied end of the world, because a woman and a man found shelter under it, survived the event, and repopulated the world. Overall, Yggdrasil represents the connection between all things, the cycle of life, the universe, fate, time and most importantly the harmony and balance between all things.
